Alexis Bean, MD

I was born and raised in the greater St. Louis, MO area as a fan of Cardinals baseball and Blues hockey (I do not claim the Rams). I got my bachelor's degree in Health Sciences from Mizzou and started working as a patient care technician and medical scribe as I discovered what I wanted to do long term. After much encouragement, I pursued medicine and went to Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados. I spent my clinical years in Michigan and loved all of my rotations, but with family medicine, I knew this was the path for me.

When looking for residency programs, I wanted a place that was unopposed for more direct and individualized teaching during each of my rotations. I also wanted a place where I could expose myself to full-scope medicine and learn how to be the best physician for my future patients. I am interested in women's health, preventative medicine and procedures. I chose CoxHealth Family Medicine Residency because of these things, but also, I felt immediately at home. Everyone I encountered during interview season made me feel comfortable, supported and part of the family. I am so excited to be back in the Midwest and begin this journey I have so longed for.

In my free time, I love going to the gym, running, hiking, skiing (attempted snowboarding), cooking and spending time with my family and friends.
