Newsroom Fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose available for those who are moderately or severely immunocompromised Posted by Cary Nabors on March 2, 2022 Appointments are now available for the moderately or severely immunocompromised to receive the fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.Many conditions and treatments can cause a person to be immunocompromised, also known as having a weakened immune system. People are considered to be moderately or severely immunocompromised if they have:Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the bloodReceived an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune systemReceived a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune systemModerate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome)Advanced or untreated HIV infectionActive treatment with high-dose corticosteroids or other drugs that may suppress the immune response.If you have questions about receiving a fourth dose or whether you qualify, we encourage you to talk to your primary care provider to determine the best course of action.
