Ashton Willoughby, CoxHealth Meyer Orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital

This Hospital Week, we’re celebrating every team member of CoxHealth — from our dedicated clinical teams like doctors, nurses and medical assistants to the essential behind-the-scenes departments like Environmental Services, Public Safety, and many more.

Meet Ashton Willoughby, Registered Nurse in Surgical Services at CoxHealth Meyer Orthopedic Rehabilitation Hospital:

In January 2024, Ashton embarked on her nursing career as a graduate nurse at Meyer Orthopedic in the operating room, quickly making her mark as a dedicated and highly skilled professional. From day one, Ashton has set the bar high for the graduate nurse residents who would follow in her footsteps.

Her passion for patient care is evident in every aspect of her work, as she consistently demonstrates exceptional compassion, empathy and commitment to her patients' well-being. What sets Ashton apart is not only her ability to provide top-tier care but also her unwavering willingness to learn and grow, continuously improving her skills in an ever-evolving medical environment. Her positive attitude and dedication have earned her the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and patients, making her an invaluable asset to the team at Meyer Orthopedic.

Ashton’s journey is just beginning, but her impact has already been profound, and there’s no doubt she will continue to inspire and lead in the field of nursing.

“My high school nurse was an incredible lady. She lived and breathed altruism. I really didn’t take her nursing class for the profession, but because of how great she was. Then I really started to like the profession,” Ashton said.

“I had no idea that perioperative nursing existed as an option, but when I shadowed a patient to their surgery, it was like an ‘aha’ moment for where I wanted to be.

“It is nice to know I have a job that directly impacts other people’s lives. It’s very fulfilling to know we help people when they need it. I also really love all of my coworkers. They make coming to work worth it too!”
