Kevin's story: 'The level of care I received was beyond anything I could have imagined'

August 26, 2025 Blog, Monett

Neighbors or visitors, every patient matters

I was in Monett on a business trip when I started experiencing heart palpitations during the night. My colleagues recommended that I go to the Cox Monett Emergency Department for an evaluation, and I’m so glad that I did.

From the registration person to the nurse who took me back for treatment, I was blown away from the start. The team worked together so seamlessly, almost like watching a well-rehearsed performance. Everyone knew their role, but even more impressive was how they made me feel. I wasn’t just another patient; I was treated like I was the only person in the hospital. Every step of the way, they explained what was happening and made sure I understood the treatment plan.

As I transitioned to the medical-surgical unit, no one missed a beat. The care continued at the same exceptional level, with every nurse and staff member working in sync to keep me comfortable and informed, with a bit of humor thrown in. On top of that, I experienced the advanced technology of the virtual care team, which gave me confidence knowing that multiple experts were weighing in on my care in real time.

The level of care I received was beyond anything I could have imagined. The people at Cox Monett are precisely the kind of people I’d want to work for me – compassionate, professional, and dedicated. I never once felt like a number.

There are a few caregivers I would specifically like to recognize:

  • Dr. Lobati (hospitalist): He took the time to explain my care plan and listened.
  • Kyla (RN): Kyla spent time talking with me, not just about my health, but family, kids, etc.
  • Carla (CNA): She was very attentive.
  • Keena (RN): An absolute delight and fun to interact with. She made sure I understood the discharge process.
  • Others involved with my care were also exceptional including Dr. Kutter; Jess (RN); Lilly (CNA); and Pauline (CNA).

I live in Tennessee, but I can honestly say the care at Cox Monett was superior to anything I’ve ever experienced at home. If I lived closer, this would be my hospital of choice.

Two words: ABSOLUTELY REMARKABLE!
