- Until certified, the pedorthist will work under supervised pedorthic patient care. Supervision will be provided by a certified pedorthist or qualified healthcare provider to ensure appropriate oversight and patient safety. The Certified Pedorthist is a health care professional specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic patient care. They provide the application of a pedorthic device for the prevention or amelioration of painful and/or disabling conditions of the foot and ankle. Pedorthic devices include therapeutic shoes, shoe modifications, partial foot orthosis for midfoot and more distal amputation, and foot orthoses. These may include devices to control the subtalar joint, up to the junction of the gastrocnemius and Achilles tendon.

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Preferred : Associates Degree in a Related Field

- Preferred: 1-2 Years Related Experience

Skills
- Examine, interview, and measure patients to determine their appliance needs.
- Fit, test, and evaluate devices on patients, and make adjustments for proper fit, function, and comfort
- Instruct patients/caregivers in the use and care of the device Maintain patient medical records in EMR system including proper billing practices.
- Select materials to be used based on patient specific needs
- Fabrication skills required to complete orthotic/shoe devices as ordered
- Train and supervise technical staff in fabrication lab.

- ABC Certification required within 1 year of hire
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
