Job Summary

The Patient Medication Coordinator works closely with medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff to secure access to medication therapy for patients. Responsibilities include medical and pharmacy benefit troubleshooting, assisting patients applying for grant and/or copay assistance, and supporting medication adherence. Must be team-oriented and have strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills as well as an ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The Patient Medication Coordinator serves as a resource and advocate to patients managing their healthcare, ultimately striving to improve the care and healthcare experience for patients and providers alike.

This role utilizes pharmacy technician experience for our Specialty Medications Clinic.

Job Requirements

  • Education
    • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
    • Preferred: Associates Degree in a Related Field
  • Experience
    • Required: 2 years of Healthcare experience (Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Patient Assistance Coordinator, Pharmacy Tech or equivalent).
  • Skills
    • Ability to navigate and properly utilize the electronic medical record, Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel), and payer provided platforms
    • Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize reports and data management
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
    • Excellent communication skills required, with ability to interact with providers, clinic staff, and team members in a professional and courteous manner
    • Ability to function independently with minimal oversight
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration
    • Required: Must be certified as a Pharmacy Technician through a nationally accredited Pharmacy organization within 6 months of hire
    • Required: Registered with the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician or application in process upon hire and obtained within 90 days of hire
