Job Summary
The MLT/MLS Program Specialist is responsible and accountable for meeting educational goals of the students attending the Cox Health School of Medical Technology. Responsible for assisting the Director of the school for operations of the School of Medical Technology as defined by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). The Program Specialist assists the director in ensuring required education for Laboratory Services staff is completed within the designated time frame, along with researching and presenting continuing education opportunities for staff. Assists the director in providing department orientation.
Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related field AND a certificate from accredited medical technology program
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in related field
- Experience
- Required: 3 years’ experience in one or more disciplines of laboratory medicine
- Preferred: 5 years’ experience in one or more disciplines of laboratory medicine
- Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Self-starter.
- Ability to monitor and compile data and disseminate results to multiple levels of leaders and employees.
- Must be able to initiate and understand research related to projects; proficient in Microsoft office.
- Microsoft Office-Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Computer and office equipment. Knowledge of products, manufacturers and distributors of Medical supplies and equipment.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: Certified as Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Laboratory Scientist from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency
