Overview of Unit/Department
Want to be a member of an interdisciplinary team that is patient focused? Working daily with all types of adult patients from cardiac to trauma to ortho and neuro. We focus on the patient returning home at their maximum level of abilities. As a nurse you have frequent interactions with the patient and family providing immediate care and education for a successful transition home.

Graduate Practical Nurse
Job Summary
The Medical-Surgical nurse is responsible for managing the care of the adult or geriatric patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. The nurse must be able to assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records and provide patients and families with support and education. The Medical-Surgical nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients.
Job Requirements
Education
- Required: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
Experience
- Previous nursing experience preferred
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate effective knowledge of scope of practice
- Exhibits valuable time management skills
- Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Must take and pass NCLEX-PN within 90 days of practical nursing school graduation
- BLS must be obtained within 90 days
Licensed Practical Nurse
Job Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse working in the Transitional Care Unit is responsible to provide direct care of the adult/geriatric patient experiencing prolonged general medical or post-operative recovery. The LPN provides care based on the patients’ needs, which includes medication administration, dressing changes, monitoring of vital signs and skin integrity, documentation in the medical record, and providing patients and families with support and education.

- Required: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program
Experience
- Preferred: Previous nursing experience preferred

Licensure/Certification/Registration
- LPN license and IV Certification active in the state of Missouri
