Overview of Unit/Department

200 East Medical-Surgical is a 30-bed unit that accepts patients from the Emergency Department, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, Critical Care Units, and directly from physicians’ offices. Our patients range in age from young adults – 100+ years of age. This unit primarily specializes in surgical, medical & gynecological/oncology patients. Our surgical population includes hysterectomies, mastectomies, small bowel resections, oncology related surgeries and much more. Our unit does administer chemotherapy on occasion. Our patients are on 6 liters or less of oxygen and may have telemetry. Our med-surg unit sees a wide array of patient diagnoses providing you with a variety of nursing skills and knowledge. Our unit prides itself on working together as a team. You will have opportunities to grow in the administration of chemotherapy, med-surg certification, clinical ladder, precepting new graduate nurses and much more. Come join 200 East today!

Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients, identify a plan of care, and implement and evaluate the care given. Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy. Leads employees to accomplish all job objectives; inspires confidence and motivation to enhance employee satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Education

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

Preferred: At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specialization

Skills

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Demonstrate effective leadership abilities

- Exhibits valuable time management skills

- Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.

- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri

Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
