Vaccine Clinic voices: Joshua Hawkins
For the hundreds of CoxHealth staff members who have volunteered at our community vaccination events, the experience has been an uplifting example of being the best for those who need us.We asked a few staff members to share their thoughts:
“As someone who spent the vast majority of the past year working in the COVID ICU, my first day at the vaccination clinic was a highlight of my nursing career. The recipients were so grateful and full of hope, one gentleman even tried to tip me $5.
I heard many stories about people eager to hug their grandchildren, to go back to church, and to just be in public. Many senior citizens lost a year to the pandemic at a moment in their life when a year means so much. It helped me realize that my co-workers have played a special role in the pandemic and the opportunity to vaccinate the most vulnerable people in our community is its own reward.”
