Proud to Work at CoxHealth: Shandra Goldsmith
Shandra Goldsmith just celebrated her 15th anniversary with CoxHealth and her evening at the Employee Recognition banquet reinforced everything she loves about working here.
“The atmosphere is amazing. We are all work family and you get to laugh and share a different experience outside the work arena,” she says. “It’s something we do really well to recognize our staff.”
Shandra has been a nurse for 27 years, working in California before joining CoxHealth. She says she has never seen teamwork as strong as what she experiences here.
Nowhere was that more evident than the time she led the charge to put together a Hawaiian-themed wedding for a patient on 800 West. The team sent an email to other departments with a wish list of items.
“I could not believe that within two hours, we had everything,” Shandra says. “People saw a need for a patient and they met it. We have caring hearts in every department.”
She says teamwork in service of our patients and our mission is a hallmark of CoxHealth’s culture.
“Everyone works well together,” she says. “I am proud to say I work here. I can walk these halls and people are always friendly. The people make CoxHealth. We strive to be the best.”
The unit cares for many high-acuity patients and the days can be stressful, but Shandra enjoys the challenge.
“I don’t
like when people come to me with a ‘problem.’ Problem is a negative word,” she
says. “But if you have a challenge, I will help you overcome that challenge.
“Every
day, I thank God for giving me a great day with the team. I pray that God will
give the whole team strength. We pull together and help one another, and it is
all for our patients.”
