Health care professionals invited to Literacy Training event

July 11, 2016 Newsroom

Local health care professionals and community health care partners are invited to attend a Health Literacy Training on Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at Cox Medical Center Branson.

The training session is presented by Health Literacy Missouri in partnership with CoxHealth.

“People are more likely to understand, read and use health information and services when communication is simple and clear,” said Carol Myers, RN, nurse care manager. “This four-hour workshop will explain the importance of health literacy, teach strategies for how to communicate using plain language, and how to build strong patient-provider relationships using teach-back.”

The interactive workshop will provide participants an opportunity to practice skills, discuss key topics and ask questions.

The training will be held in the Tree Rooms at Cox Medical Center Branson, 525 Branson Landing Boulevard. To learn more about the Health Literacy Training or to RSVP for the event, email carol.myers@coxhealth.com.
