Food for a Woman’s Heart to raise support and awareness

February 13, 2018 Newsroom

One in three women will die of heart disease, making it is one of the top issues facing women today. On Feb. 22, the CoxHealth Foundation will help make a difference for local women battling the disease at “Food for a Woman’s Heart,” an annual luncheon at Touch restaurant. The event features a gourmet meal, live music, a bag raffle, vendor booths, door prizes and a silent auction with baskets filled by local female celebrities.

Proceeds from the event benefit the foundation’s Cardiology Services Fund, which provides much-needed services, equipment and therapies to cardiology patients. It also helps ensure that Cardiology physicians and staff have necessary equipment and training.

The event’s keynote speaker is Dr. John Garner, a CoxHealth electrophysiologist, who will present about preventative care, heart disease signs and symptoms, and the importance of women taking care of themselves along with all of their other responsibilities. Additionally, Red Dress Champions -- women who have recently faced heart disease -- will attend to inspire, encourage and share their stories.

Tickets for general seating are $25. If one can’t attend the event, it is still possible to purchase raffle tickets since winners don’t need to be present to win. Raffle tickets can be purchased at www.coxhealthfoundation.com.
