DAISY Award: Ozark Dialysis nurse extends the gift of time

The DAISY Award is a recognition program to celebrate and recognize nurses who go above and beyond to care for their patients.

Kristy McCaslin, was meant to be a nurse. She is caring, compassionate, and her commitment to excellence makes a difference every day.

"On December 28, 2023, an Ozark Dialysis patient did not show up for his treatment and did not inform us of his absence. His nurse Kristy McCaslin, RN, tried calling him but received no answer. Kristy then contacted his wife, who mentioned that she had not seen him yet that morning. Walking into the bedroom, his wife found him unresponsive, prompting her to call for medical help. EMS arrived, revived the patient, and took him to the hospital. Although the patient eventually passed away, the family was given an additional three weeks with him to say their final farewells. Kristy's act of caring and service provided the family and patient with the precious gift of time."
