Through its Heroes for Healthy Hearts initiative, the CoxHealth Foundation is raising awareness around heart disease prevention and fundraising to assist cardiac patients in southwest Missouri.
During the month of February, anyone can purchase a $10 paper heart or $50 Big Hero Heart, which will be displayed at the Wheeler Heart and Vascular Center in Springfield or cafeterias system-wide. There is also an option to buy a “virtual” heart and make a direct donation to cardiovascular services.
In addition to purchasing hearts, individuals can support patients through raffle tickets to win a gift basket. The baskets cater to a variety of interests, from self-care to cuddling by the campfire and more. Raffle tickets and basket options are available on the CoxHealth Foundation’s website.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting our fourth year of Heroes for Healthy Hearts as a part of American Heart Month,” said Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation. “This initiative always makes a positive difference for our patients, and it’s rewarding to see it directly impact the local community.”
All of the money raised will stay in southwest Missouri to help cardiac patients – after events such as heart attacks – who need assistance paying their medical expenses. This can include medical bills for care, rehabilitation, medications and more.
