CoxHealth continues to evolve visitor policy

February 17, 2022 Springfield

CoxHealth is changing its visitor policy in line with decreasing levels of COVID-19 in the area.

Starting Friday, Feb. 18, inpatients may have two visitors at a time between the hours of 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. in most areas of CoxHealth’s hospital facilities. Emergency Department patients may also have two visitors at a time.

Patients being treated for COVID-19, with the exception of those in our West Tower open-ward COVID unit, may have one visitor at a time from 10 a.m.-noon or 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Patients may have a different visitor each day.

ICUs serving adult patients in Springfield hospitals are closed to visitors between the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Visitors of all ages are now allowed to visit patients, with the only exception being that child visitors must be over age 14 to visit our ICUs.

CoxHealth’s ambulatory areas and clinics will also allow two visitors per patient, including child visitors.

Visitors must remain masked at all times.

Also beginning Friday, we will no longer do temperature checks at entrances or require stickers for staff and visitors. Entrance screeners will continue to do check in for visitors.

Visitors should not enter our facilities if they have had a positive test in the last 10 days; have been exposed to a close contact who has COVID-19 in the last 10 days; or if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.
