November 7, 2017 Newsroom

The CoxHealth Auxiliary has been named Missouri’s top auxiliary in the large hospital category – for the 12th time.

The award was presented during the Missouri Hospital Association’s 95th Annual Convention & Trade Show on Nov. 2.

“For nearly 70 years, CoxHealth’s auxiliary members have worked to serve the health system’s patients and the community as a whole,” says Barbara Frogue, system director of Volunteer Services at CoxHealth. “Through the donation of their time and talent, our volunteers play a vital role at our hospitals, and serve our patients by raising money for new resources and developments in the Ozarks.”

The auxiliary’s support is wide and varied. In the 2016 – 2017 year, its 1,246 members gave 188,000 hours of time and raised $268,111.

In addition to funding CoxHealth equipment and projects, the group provides full tuition for 10 nursing students at Cox College and a complimentary SIDS-prevention sleep sack for every baby born at Cox South. In partnership with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth, the group also helps support the C.A.R.E. Mobile, Shaken Baby Syndrome Community Education and the system’s Child Life program.

Financial support for such projects comes from auxiliary members, hospital gift shops and CoxHealth employees, as well as community and business partners through contributions and fundraising projects.
