Available Educational Outreach Programs

Trauma Services at CoxHealth offers these educational and eye-opening programs as a free opportunity for your community, school or workplace. Programs are flexible in size and duration to fit nearly any group. Many of our programs are sponsored by the Children's Miracle Network.

Our Programs

Students - K-5

• Poison Prevention: Recognizing and avoiding dangerous materials
• Bike & Helmet Safety: General bicycle safety and the importance of helmets
• Gun Safety: Basic gun safety and awareness through a partnership with Eddie Eagle from the NRA
• Seatbelts & Boosters: Ensuring a good fit in the car and the importance of buckling up
• Pedestrian Safety: Finding the safest route to school, home or a friend’s house
• Fire Safety: Preventing fires and burns
• Water Safety: Proper life jacket fit and water rules
• Seatbelts & Boosters: Crash Course – Passenger Seat is a very successful and engaging seatbelt program that can be adjusted to any age group and can cover topics like using booster seats.

Students - 6th-8th Grade

• Seatbelts: Crash Course – Passenger Seat is a very successful and engaging seatbelt program for middle school students
• Bike & Helmet Safety: General bicycle safety and the importance of helmets and preventing head injury
• Gun Safety: Safe handling and storage of firearms, rules of safe firearm use
• Crash Course – Passenger Seat: A very successful and engaging seatbelt program for middle school students
• Risky Behaviors: Recognizing risky behaviors and the consequences of bad choices including substance abuse

Students - 9th-12th Grade

• Docudramas: A live-action car wreck scene worked by first responders as an eye-opening glimpse at the reality or choices made behind the wheel, including a Think First Presentation and Victim Impact Speaker.
• Safe Driving: Crash Course is a very successful and engaging program covering topics ranging from seatbelts, distractions and impairments to common driving behaviors.
• Gun Safety: Safe handling and storage of firearms, rules of safe firearm use
• Risky Behaviors: Recognizing risky behaviors and the consequences of bad choices including substance abuse

Adults, Parents & Workplace

• Trauma Simulation – Mock workplace incidents, including injury or active shooter situations, in partnership with local first responders to train or evaluate workplace response
• Safe Driving: Crash Course is a very successful and engaging program covering topics ranging from seatbelts, distractions and impairments to common driving behaviors.
• Car Seat Education: Ensuring child passenger restraints are properly used and addressing common questions. Car Seat Check Events also available.
• Home Safety: Addressing common injuries in the home, including poison prevention, water safety, safe sleep, gun safety and more
• Safe Baby: Addressing common infant injuries and general baby safety including safe sleep, shaken baby, car seats, and more
• Fall Prevention: Avoiding trip hazards and preventing falls for all ages.
