MyChart Family Access

Access the MyChart account of someone you care for — or share access to your own account.

What is Family Access?

Family access lets you securely connect your MyChart account with another person’s account so you can help manage their care. This may include:

  • A parent or legal guardian managing a child’s MyChart account
  • An adult helping another adult, such as a spouse, partner, parent, or trusted caregiver

With family access, you may be able to view and manage health information like appointments, test results, medications, and messages with the care team — all from your own MyChart account.

You can also grant access to your own MyChart account if you want someone you trust to help you stay on top of your care. Access levels vary and are always controlled by the patient.

Family access is a secure, flexible way to make sure the right people can help when support is needed.

How Does Family Access Work?

Children Under 13

For children younger than 13, a parent or legal guardian can have full family access to their child’s MyChart account. This allows you to view your child’s medical information, send messages to their care team, and manage appointments and prescriptions. Family access helps you stay up to date on your child’s care and makes it easier to handle their health needs all in one secure place.

Children Ages 13 to 17

For children ages 13 to 17, parents or legal guardians can have limited family access to their child’s MyChart account. This level of access helps protect the teen’s privacy while still allowing parents to stay involved in their care. You’ll be able to view certain health information, send messages to the care team, and help manage appointments. Some details, like sensitive test results or notes, may not be visible to support your child’s confidentiality.

Adults 18 and Older

For adults and children ages 18 and older, you can request family access to their MyChart account if they give permission. This access lets you help manage their health care by viewing records, scheduling appointments, or sending messages to their care team. Adults 18 and older decide what level of access to give and can change or remove it at any time.
