Volunteer Opportunities at CoxHealth in Springfield
Enrolling as a CoxHealth volunteer is easy. Simply submit an online application, and we'll contact you within 48 hours to schedule an interview. Please bring photo identification to your interview. The interview process includes a background check, drug screening, and immunization screening. All volunteers must attend an orientation. We'll share your orientation date during your interview. You'll also receive on-the-job training. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
Cox Medical Center South
- Ambassador - Greeting those entering Cox South, escorting and providing wheelchairs.
- Emergency Department - Assisting those entering the emergency department by taking wheelchairs to the curb, checking on patients in the waiting room and a host of other duties.
- Gift Shops - Greeting customers, delivering flowers and stocking shelves and merchandise.
- Information Desk - Answering phones regarding patient information and directing visitors in the hospital.
- Learning Center - Assisting staff and helping with children.
- Neonatal Intensive Care - Cuddling babies and helping with other staff support projects. 40 hour CoxHealth volunteering prerequisite required.
- Pastoral Care - Assisting pastoral care with patient visitation.
- Patient Escort - Escorting patients where they need to go.
- Pet Therapy - Visiting patients with trained volunteers and therapy dogs.
- Volunteers Visiting Veterans - Serving military, veterans, first responders and their families.
- Hospital Patient Floor Assistant - Rounding on patients, answering call lights and relaying information to the nursing staff, stocking shelves and supplies.
Cox North Hospital
- Emergency Department - Assisting those entering the emergency department by taking wheelchairs to the curb, checking on patients in the waiting room and a host of other duties.
- Pet Therapy - Visiting patients with trained volunteers and therapy dogs.
- Sewing Program - Sewing keepsake items for our patients.
- HAM (Amateur Radio Operators) - Helping with Emergency Services
- Volunteers Visiting Veterans - Serving military, veterans, first responders and their families
- Learning Center North - Assisting staff and helping children.
Meyer Orthopedic and Surgical Hospital
- Ambassador - Greeting those entering Cox South, escorting and providing wheelchairs.
- Floor Assistants - Assisting staff as needed.
- Same Day Surgery Assistant - Welcoming patient and their families to the Same Day Surgery, walking patients to their rooms, assisting at the information desk.
Hulston Cancer Center
- Resource Center Assistant - Assisting staff in a variety of ways.
- Lobby Ambassador - Greeting and escorting patients and visitors.
- Outpatient Oncology Infusion Center- Rounding on patients, answering call lights and relaying information to the nursing staff, stocking shelves and supplies.
- Breast Care Center Ambassador or Patient Escort Assistant- Providing check-in, wayfinding, welcoming assistance, patient escort, etc.
The Martin Center
- Lobby Ambassador - Greeting and escorting patients and visitors.
- Radiology Assistant-Welcoming patients, assisting with phones, and wiping down chairs.
- Endoscopy Assistant- Rounding on patients, assisting with various tasks, taking snacks to patients, assisting patients to their cars following their procedure via wheelchair.
Wheeler Heart and Vascular Center
- Lobby Ambassador - Greeting and escorting patients and visitors.
- Hospice at Home-Visiting patients that are on hospice in their home.
- General Inpatient Program-Visiting patients on hospice in the hospital.
- Infusion Center - Greeting and escorting patients and visitors.
Ferrell Duncan Clinic
- Lobby Ambassador - Greeting and escorting patients and visitors.
- Allergy Clinic – Cleaning, clerical, assisting with various projects.
- Radiology Clinic- Welcoming patients, assisting with phones, and wiping down chairs.
