Abbey Collins, MD
Hi! My name is Abbey Collins. I grew up in Mountain View, a small town in north-central Arkansas. I completed my undergraduate studies in Biology at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and later attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) for medical school. Growing up, I had the opportunity to go on mission trips to Haiti and Indonesia, and my love for serving the underserved grew even more as part of the Honors in Global Health Track at UAMS. Through this track, I had the opportunity to rotate in a rural area of my state, as well as learn more about all the different factors that affect healthcare across the globe.
I chose family medicine because it allows physicians to build long-term relationships with their patients and get to know each one personally. In addition, you never know what you may see on a day-to-day basis due to the wide range of ages and health needs you encounter. I knew that CoxHealth was where I wanted to be because it valued these relationships and community needs while also providing the comprehensive training that I was looking for.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy reading, working out, cooking/baking, watching Formula 1, and spending time with my husband. I am so excited to continue my training here at CoxHealth and look forward to exploring everything Springfield has to offer!
