Each parking lot has designated parking for visitors. Handicapped parking is available near each entrance. Please do not park in the drive directly in front of the main entrances; this area is reserved for patient loading and unloading.

Our cafeteria is open for complete meals during the following hours: 6-10:30 a.m., 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 4:30-8 p.m. and 1-3 a.m. The grill is open from 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Snack items, beverages and fruit are also available during these hours. The Atrium Bakery and Café is located in the West Pavilion, and offers a variety of breads and pastries, soups, salads, specialty sandwiches and desserts. The café is open 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 417-269-6761 for a recorded listing of the daily specials, or call 417-269-6760 to place an order.

Metro On the Go Quesadilla Café is located in the West Tower, and offers a wide variety of Tex-Mex favorites including tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and more. The café is open 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 417-269-4112 to place an order.

The Primrose Perk coffee shop offers whole-bean specialty coffee, espresso drinks and smoothies, plus a variety of pastry items.

North Lobby location: Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We offer a free shuttle service. It goes within the Cox Medical Center South and Meyer Orthopedic and Rehabilitation hospital campuses. Call the hospital operator to schedule a ride.

Visitors are encouraged to park on the Robberson Avenue (west) side of the hospital across from the main entrance.

Patients and visitors are invited to meditate in our chapel, located at the north end of L-100. The chapel is always open. Monday - Friday at 11:00 a.m., a chaplain delivers a short, inspirational message.

The cafeteria is conveniently located between the hospital and the outpatient center. From the outpatient center, this is the first floor; if you’re coming from the hospital this is the second floor.

Cafeteria

The cafeteria is open daily from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria. 

Meals are served at the following times:

Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Dinner: Grab-and-go items are available until 6:30 p.m.

We accept major credit cards and checks.

Vending Machines

Vending machines for snacks and drinks are located near the main lobby, next to the dining room. Beverage vending machines are also located on the inpatient hallway. 

Patient Dining

Your food service will include a menu of nourishing, well-balanced meals that are an important part of your treatment and recovery. CBCH makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor's orders. 

Patients are served at the following times:

Breakfast: Between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Lunch: Between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Occasionally, your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test.

Guest Meals

One guest meal per patient may be purchased and delivered with the patient's meal. Simply purchase ahead of time in the Business Office. 

For parents and sitters of patients who are 15 years old and younger, one guest meal tray is provided with each patient meal tray. A guest tray is also provided for sitters of patients requiring 24-hour physician-ordered care.

The term “swing bed” refers to the way Medicare reimburses for care. It allows you to remain in the same bed, same room, receiving the same level of nursing care, but services are billed differently.

After inpatient surgery or another hospitalization, some patients no longer need acute care but are not quite ready to return to home or a nursing facility. Others may have been hospitalized far from home and still need care, but may receive it in their local hospital. Cox Barton County Hospital’s swing bed program is a caring solution for these situations.

Approximately 25 volunteers make up Cox Barton County Hospital's Auxiliary and they play an important role in the hospital’s success. The Auxiliary’s mission is to assist patients, families, visitors and staff in an empathetic and supportive manner.

The Auxiliary began shortly after the hospital was built in 1949 and  through the years has raised money and donated to different hospital projects. In recent years, donations helped purchase the player grand piano enjoyed by so many in our front lobby, new recliners for patient rooms and a blanket warmer.

Whether it is an hour each month or every day, Auxiliary volunteers cheerfully donate their skills and talents to support our hospital. Members of the Auxiliary act as greeters, cookie bakers, van or golf cart drivers and brighten lives by delivering mail and flowers to patient rooms. Some give their time to staff the gift shop or to give hand massages to patients and they also generously gives of their time to stitch lap quilts and cloth toys for our patients.

Interpreting services are available for patients as needed.

You'll see our nursing staff using cell phones while on duty. These aren't personal phones. They cannot use them to call or text friends and family. These phones belong to CoxHealth. The phones connect to your medical record. Nurses use the phones to talk to other members of your health care team. They help the nurse give you medicine safely. Your nurse is alerted on their phone when your call light is on so you'll get attention fast.

Each patient room has a CD player. Ask your nurse about music choices.

Call 417-681-5101 and tell the operator you need the rapid response team. Give the patient's room number or location.

Reasons to Call the Rapid Response Team

• Weakness in the face, arms, or legs
• Chest pain or a fast heartbeat
• Change in the color of the skin to pale or gray
• Sudden sweating
• Difficulty walking or speaking
• Change in alertness
• Less awake than normal or agitated
• Sudden loss of consciousness or fainting
• Bleeding or a seizure
• Any change in the way they look or feel

When to Call the Rapid Response Team

• If you feel the patient's medical condition is quickly getting worse
• If you aren't able to get help by calling for the nurse

Chaplains are available for spiritual counseling and support. Ask your nurse or contact the Pastoral Care department. We have a chapel by the Emergency Department.

A dog and their handler will visit your hospital room. They'll help provide comfort and enjoyment as you cope with health problems. Call Volunteer Services or tell your nurse if you want pet therapy. It may take 24 hours to fulfill your request.
