Venous Symposium (CoxHealth Employees Only)

Venous disease is ten times more prevalent than arterial disease with more than 45 million Americans suffering needlessly. That encompasses 25% of all women and 15% of all men. Less than 4% of individuals with venous disease have been treated. With evolving clinical guidelines and technological advancements added to the industry, it is easier now than ever for patients to seek treatment. We can change the conversation. With current regulatory mandates and evolving healthcare legislation it is imperative that healthcare providers are able to navigate this process to allow them to better care for their patients.

The CoxHealth Venous Symposium is designed for primary care providers, mid-level providers, practice managers, nursing staff, ultrasound technologists, and others who care for patients with venous disease in a hospital or clinical practice setting. This conference is designed to deliver evolving, evidence-based principles for the management of your vascular patients. Exploring best practice recommendations, emerging technologies and state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment modalities. Take a peek inside venous stasis ulcers, wound care, out-patient treatment options, and more.

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Describe anatomy and physiology/pathophysiology of lymphatic system, lymphagion function, lymphedema states, lymphatic dysfunction implications, phlebolymphedema (Melin)
• Describe management options for lymphatic dysfunction including CLT/MLD, CVI management, static and dynamic compression options (Melin)
• Describe options for management and treatment for reflux (Schmittling)
• Experience common procedures used to treat venous insufficiency in the Sapheneia veins (Vorhies)
• Visualize the techniques needed to remove symptomatic varicose veins (Vorhies)
• Discuss the appropriate treatment & use of sclerosing agents used to treat incompetent great saphenous veins (Olive)
• Recognize venous leg ulcers; choose appropriate treat-ment for venous leg ulcers (Torgerson
