International Nurse Fellowship Program at CoxHealth

At CoxHealth, we’re excited to welcome nurses from around the world through our International Nurse Fellowship Program. Our 12-week orientation is designed to help you feel confident and supported as you transition into your new role. You’ll receive hands-on training with essential skills and equipment, along with classes in U.S. culture, RN scope of practice, pharmacology, rhythm interpretation, physical assessments and more.

What to Expect

Phase 1: Pre-Licensure

While your Missouri RN license is being processed, you will start to familiarize yourself with your assigned unit by working with a preceptor, attending system-wide orientation classes with other new hires, and begin the pre-licensure portion of the International Nurse Fellowship program. This phase averages 2 to 4 weeks in length.

Classes include:

• Orientation to U.S. Culture and Nursing Practice
• Pharmacology Refresher
• Rhythm Recognition
• Physical Assessment
• Safe Patient Handling
• De-Escalation and Evasion

Phase 2: Post-Licensure

Once your Missouri RN license is issued, you will continue with the post-licensure portion of the International Nurse Fellowship program. This phase of the program can be customized to meet your specific needs and ensures that by the end of the program, you have the knowledge, skills, and network to practice safely and to live your American dream.

On the unit, you will work with a preceptor in a staged manner that will guide you to becoming independent by the end of the program. This phase averages 12 weeks in length.
