Wound care team helping patients heal close to home

For patients living with chronic or hard-to-heal wounds, every appointment matters. 

As part of CoxHealth’s comprehensive Wound Care Program, the Cox Monett Wound Care Clinic extends specialized wound care services to patients living in rural communities, bringing the same advanced expertise and compassionate care found at other CoxHealth locations closer to home. 

The clinic is led by Tom Doering, PA, of the CoxHealth Medical Group, who works closely with the broader CoxHealth wound care team to ensure each patient receives evidence-based, coordinated care. He is supported locally by Sara, Amanda, Karen, Angela, and Sandy, a team of registered nurses who share a commitment to helping patients heal and improve their quality of life. 

Together, the team provides individualized treatment for complex wounds, including diabetic ulcers, pressure injuries, surgical wounds, and traumatic injuries.

“Wounds that do not heal properly can impact every aspect of a person’s life,” says Doering. “Through this collaborative approach, our patients benefit from consistent protocols, advanced therapies, and shared expertise across the system, all while receiving care locally.” 

CoxHealth’s integrated wound care model brings specialized treatments and personalized follow-up to promote faster healing and reduce complications. Expanding this program to Monett improves access to high-quality care for rural patients who might otherwise need to travel long distances for these services. 

“Sometimes, the most important step in healing is simply making it to the appointment,” Doering adds. “Having this clinic available in Monett removes a major barrier for many of our patients.” 

The wound care clinic is located within Cox Monett Hospital, and referrals can be obtained through a provider or specialist.
