Cox Barton County Hospital welcomes Dr. Olivia Hillier to Medical One Clinic
Cox Barton County Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Olivia Hillier, a family practice physician, to its medical team.
Dr. Hillier grew up in Moline, Ill., the hometown of John Deere. With her father being a retired internal medicine physician and her mother a retired pharmacist, it's no surprise that she was surrounded by a warm and caring health care atmosphere from an early age.
Interestingly, Dr. Hillier didn’t always envision herself in medicine. “As a child, it felt like we seldom could walk into a store without bumping into one of my dad’s patients who would stop and chat. Over time, I realized how special those connections were, and I wanted to have a similar connection with my patients and my community,” she shares. “I can’t wait to bring that warmth and care to Cox Barton.”
While attending medical school, Dr. Hillier developed a passion for various areas of medicine and was drawn to the idea of treating patients of all ages. As a naturally curious individual, she enjoys learning about a wide range of topics, and now she cannot envision a career outside of medicine.
“Forming long-term relationships is important to me, and that’s why I chose to be a primary care physician,” she says. “I consider it a privilege to be involved in the lives of my patients.”
Dr. Hillier explains that when she was first interviewed at the hospital, she felt instantly welcomed by the staff and loved the feel of a small-town community. She considers Barton County to be her long-term home.
“Listening to my patients and allowing them the time to tell me what is going on is important to me,” says Dr. Hillier. “I want to meet patients where they are and take their social situation and life goals into account when making decisions about their health.”
Outside of work, Dr. Hillier enjoys spending time with her husband, Jared, and their newborn baby, Chloe. In addition, she has two German short-haired pointers named Eve and Winston, and when time allows, she also enjoys going on walks and visiting thrift shops.
Cox Barton invites the community to a special meet and greet welcoming Dr. Hillier on Thursday, Sept. 11, 5 to 7 p.m., in the hospital cafeteria. Join us for light refreshments and a chance to learn more about our newest physician.
