CoxHealth offers tool to detect lung cancer
CoxHealth has been certified as an American College of Radiology Lung Cancer Screening Center and is now offering a lung cancer screening program that will help longtime smokers have a better chance of survival through early detection.
Graduation for CoxHealth/OTC Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program
This week, the first class of 10 students graduated from the new Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program. In 16 weeks, the students became medical assistants through the collaboration between CoxHealth and OTC. Special thanks to Dr. Hal Higdon who made the commencement address.
Two CoxHealth leaders join state board, oversight committee
Dr. Matthew Brandt, CoxHealth emergency room physician, and Kaylyn Lambert, system director of the Office of Patient Experience, were confirmed to statewide leadership roles in Jefferson City this week. Dr. Brandt is now a member of the State Board of Health and Senior Services and Kaylyn is on the MO HealthNet Oversight Committee.
New CoxHealth program helps patients with food insecurity
Thanks to a new program developed by Dr. Karissa Merritt, resident physician, CoxHealth physicians can now diagnose food insecurity and write food prescriptions for patients to get high quality, healthy food at Crosslines and through Springfield Community Gardens. The new program was highlighted by KY3/KSPR.

CoxHealth representatives will be participating in the upcoming KOLR panel discussion ‘Opioids in the Ozarks’ to be held September 21 from 4 – 5 p.m., at the Library Center auditorium on S. Campbell.
The Springfield News-Leader came to Cox South and interviewed Kaylyn Lambert, system director of the Office of Patient Experience, and Musician Liz Moriando for a story about Musicians on Call.

Celebrating CoxHealth employees at annual company picnic
Next week, we will be hosting thousands of our employees, providers and their families and friends at our annual CoxHealth FallFest event Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield. The event will feature games, food and a time to interact with our colleagues.
