Cox College’s Monett satellite campus now open
Cox College’s satellite campus in Monett, a new effort and opportunity to train even more nurses, is now officially open.
“We are so excited about this program and what it means for our region,” says Dr. Amy Townsend, vice president of Student Nursing at Cox College. “Across the country, we are seeing a critical need for nurses, and that is only going to grow. We hope that this program will give even more students the opportunity to train to serve their loved ones, and also build a meaningful career.”
Six students are enrolled in the college's Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree program in Monett. Classes are held at Scott Regional Technology Center, and clinical rotations will occur at Cox Monett Hospital. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to work in a variety of areas in the medical field.
An additional benefit is the fact that classes are offered on nights and weekends, allowing students to continue employment while they train as a nurse in the two-year program.
“We wanted to make this opportunity attainable for someone who still needs to maintain a job while attending classes,” says Townsend. “This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to go back to school and start a brand new career.”
Since classes have started, registration is now closed for the current semester. However, students may inquire about the next opportunity to start, which is in the fall.
