Cancer services expansion underway at CoxHealth
Patients of the Ozarks will soon have expanded access to oncology services at CoxHealth. Construction on an all-new $3.2 million infusion center is underway, and is aided by $800,000 in community support.
The new facility, where chemotherapy and other infusions are administered, will be housed on the second floor of Hulston Cancer Center. It doubles the square footage of the current facility, increases capacity from 28 to 40 stations, and also features additional private rooms, a large waiting area, nutrition stations, and enhanced nurses' station.
“We are very excited about this new center, and what it will mean for our patients and community,” says Geoffrey Davison, system director of Oncology at CoxHealth. “While cancer is something we never want anyone to face, we are glad to have these facilities available. It is our goal to be the best for our patients, and offering the highest-quality care is one way we fulfill that goal.”
Nearly $800,000 of a $1 million goal has been raised by the CoxHealth Foundation towards the project, which includes a $100,000 matching grant from the Hulston Family Foundation.
“We are at $800,000 thanks to a dear friend who recently made a major gift,” says Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation. “The Hulston Family Foundation responded with this matching gift to help us reach our goal so that this project can be the very best for our cancer patients. We are beyond grateful. However, there is still work left to do, so we would love to speak with anyone who is interested in being part of this important initiative.”
The new center comes alongside greater access to oncology services at CoxHealth, and work is underway to grow the system’s number of oncologists from three to six.
“The combination of the infusion center and additional providers helps us be even more ready to serve patients as soon as they need us,” says Davison.
The center is projected to be complete in December 2021. To make a donation to the project, click here.
