Cox College holds Fall 2021 commencement

December 17, 2021 Newsroom

More than 150 students graduated from Cox College on Friday across three ceremonies, marking the first in-person commencement since the beginning of the pandemic.

Ceremonies were held at 9 a.m. (Master’s programs, 16 Master's of Science in Nursing graduates and 30 Master's of Science in Occupational Therapy graduates), 11 a.m. (Associate programs, 42 graduates), and 1 p.m. (Bachelor's programs, 61 graduates). There were also three Medical Assisting graduates and two Bachelor's of Science in Diagnostic Imaging graduates.

“Graduation days are always very special, as they are significant moments in the lives of graduates, as well as the future of the community,” says Dr. Amy DeMelo, president of Cox College. “Health care professionals are needed across the state of Missouri, and Cox College is ready to answer to that need.”

Aside from pandemic challenges, this graduating class also saw the college undergo a multi-million-dollar renovation. The goal of the renovation, which was complete in early 2021, is to enable Cox College to educate a larger number of medical professionals. Greater classroom space ties to an increase in the number of students the Missouri State Board of Nursing will allow Cox College to accept. Not only did this renovation project increase classroom size, but it brought an updated appearance to the interior and exterior of Cox College’s building.
