Two to four weeks before your joint replacement surgery, you should attend your pre-admission appointment and watch the Joint Adventure patient education video.
You’ll learn what to expect before, during and after your surgery, and how you play an incredibly important role in your own recovery. Your coach, a family member or friend who will be assisting you after surgery, should attend class with you. Our joint coordinator will be available to answer your questions.
The Joint Adventure video covers nursing, physical and occupation therapy, medical equipment and case management information. It also includes images of the operating room, patient room and our therapy gym. Our goal is simple: to help you get back to a more active lifestyle as quickly and as safely as possible.
Patients say the video helped them feel more prepared and at ease.
Some sample comments from patients:
- “The class gives both coach and patient a sense of assurance about the upcoming event.”
- “I learned so much I didn’t know about my surgery and how to help myself after.”
