Access Medical staff, resident physicians, administrators and authorized personnel approved by the Library director have after-hour access to use materials in the libraries via their approved Cox ID card.
Who May Use our Libraries
CoxHealth physicians, employees, students, patients and their families may use CoxHealth Libraries.
Students - It is important for students to realize that part of their educational process is to perform their own literature searches and to retrieve and/or photocopy their own materials. As with most academic settings, general direction to research and locating resources is permissible.
Attorneys - Visiting attorneys must have prior approval from the Legal Department Director before admission to the CoxHealth Libraries. Phone: 417-269-6577. The Legal Department will notify us when approval is obtained.
Patients & Community - Patients, families, and the community are welcome to use library resources in-house during regular library hours. Due to the technical nature of our collection, the following patient-oriented libraries may be more suitable for meeting consumer health information needs:
- Joyce Schwandt Library, The Women's Center
- Hartman Library and Resource Center, Wheeler Heart and Vascular Center
- Allenbrand Resource Center and Library, Hulston Cancer Center
We strive to collect resources to support the areas of care and the professional work and growth of all physicians, employees and students.
We must have a completed library user application form on file before you may borrow materials. You must show a current CoxHealth identification badge, and a member of the library staff must check out any material removed from our libraries.
Checkout periods vary depending on the type of material:
- General collection items = two weeks
- Reserve books = overnight, or as specified
- Reference books = in-library use only
- Journals = in-library use only
