Diff This is a preventable infection that sometimes happens when a certain kind of bacteria is spread at the hospital. This can be caused by insufficient disinfection of hands and/or surfaces, or through the prolonged use of some antibiotics. The standard infection ratio (SIR) shown below is the number of observed infections divided by the number of predicted (expected) infections. A lower number is better. Hospital-Acquired Infection - CAUTI This is a preventable infection that sometimes happens when bacteria enters the urinary tract through a catheter and causes infection. The standard infection ratio (SIR) is the number of observed infections divided by the number of predicted (expected) infections. A lower number is better.
