Physician Job Description
CoxHealth is searching for a BE/BC fellowship-trained Infectious Diseases physician to join our existing hospital–based clinic. This candidate will join two physicians and two physician assistants. The practice is 100 percent ID and average 15 to 25 new consultations per week. This practice has all facets of Infectious Diseases- antimicrobial stewardship, infection prevention, outpatient HIV care, outpatient consultations, inpatient consultations, telehealth and travel medicine. We have well-supported medical directorships within the organization.
The practice includes teaching medical students and residents, medical directorships and telemedicine opportunities. The outpatient clinic is adjacent to the hospital and the infusion center is connected to our office, so no additional driving. There is access to a full-service clinical microbiology lab that includes virology, mycology and mycobacteriology labs, as well as a full set of molecular platforms. We see a diverse array of disease processes including Level-1 trauma, immunocompromised hosts including HIV and the entire spectrum of vector-borne and endemic infections.
The schedule includes regular daytime hours plus consultative services, and no admitting to the hospital. Weekend call includes one in three weekends where we cover new consultations only in our main campus. This typically includes two to six new consultations per weekend. Compensation is very competitive and is based on work production and not collections. The potential to grow this practice is unlimited. We are looking to fill a recently vacated position, and the candidate would have the opportunity to grow their practice as they see fit and become involved in any of the above-mentioned “non-patient care” activities.
