Having a regular mammogram is one of the best ways to detect breast cancer so it may be treated as quickly as possible. To make getting this test even easier, Cox Barton County Hospital is offering screening mammograms on a walk-in basis on Wednesdays during the month of October. In addition, results will be available within 24 hours if the mammogram is performed by 2 p.m.

Here's what you need to know about Walk-In Wednesdays:

* Patients must have an order from a provider

* Walk-ins are only available for screening mammograms between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

* When using the walk-in service, please note it must be at least 12 months from your previous screening to comply with most health insurance requirements

* Patients should bring their health insurance card, the name of the facility where their last mammogram was performed, and the name of their primary care physician.
