Two CoxHealth hospitals have earned the prestigious five-star rating in patient satisfaction by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Cox Monett Hospital and Cox Barton County Hospital are the only two critical access hospitals in the State of Missouri to achieve this high ranking.
The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) Summary Star Rating (reporting period: second quarter 2017 through first quarter 2018 discharges) combines all information about the specific aspects of patient care experience measured by the HCAHPS Survey.
The five-star rating puts both hospitals in the top seven percent of the 3,505 hospitals surveyed nationwide.
"We are extremely proud of the five-star ratings our patients have given Cox Monett and Cox Barton County hospitals," said William Mahoney, senior vice-president, CoxHealth Community Hospital Group. "Five stars validates the high level of personalized care being delivered."
CMS assigns two major star ratings: the HCAHPS Summary Star Rating, based exclusively on patient survey scores, and the Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating, which incorporates outcomes measures as well as patient experience scores. The star ratings range from one to five stars, with five stars being the best.
Cox Monett achieved five stars in 2018 based on the reporting period third quarter 2016 through second quarter 2017 discharges. Cox Barton County previously earned this honor in 2015.
Both hospitals have celebrations planned in the coming weeks.
