Heroes for Healthy Hearts campaign celebrates five years this February

February 7, 2023

One person dies every 34 seconds in the U.S. from cardiovascular disease, and CoxHealth is continuing its support of local patients this month through Heroes for Healthy Hearts. The campaign, celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, is led by the CoxHealth Foundation and raises funds for those who need it most.

Throughout the month of February, individuals can support patients through raffle tickets to win a gift basket. The baskets cater to a variety of interests, from self-care to coffee and more. The community is invited to support the campaign by purchasing raffle tickets online, and all basket options are available on the CoxHealth Foundation’s website.

“80 percent of heart attacks are preventable, and that is why every donation can make a difference,” says Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation. “Heart disease is a battle many people in our community have to fight, and this support helps our patients increase their quality of life.”

In addition to purchasing raffle tickets, individuals can purchase a $2 paper heart that will be sold and displayed at Cox South’s and Cox Barton County Hospital’s cafeterias.

All of the money raised will stay in southwest Missouri to help cardiac patients – after events such as heart attacks – who need assistance paying their medical expenses. This can include medical bills for care, rehabilitation, medications and more.
