EEG tests now being performed at Cox Monett
Patients who need an electroencephalogram (EEG) can now have the test performed at Cox Monett Hospital, eliminating a need to travel to other cities.
EEG is a noninvasive and painless diagnostic test performed to measure the electrical activity of the brain. The outpatient test is performed by strategically placing electrodes on a patient’s scalp. The diagnostic tool is used to diagnose seizure disorders, such as epilepsy, and other brain conditions.
“Building the new hospital in Monett allowed us to look at what specific tests could be offered locally,” said Matthew Scott, assistant director of neurosciences at CoxHealth. “We understand access to health care in rural areas can be a challenge, and it’s important that we continue to look at what we can bring to them.”
Patients scheduled for an EEG should check in at the outpatient registration desk located inside the hospital’s main lobby.
