CoxHealth is pleased to welcome craniofacial surgeon Dr. Hannah J. Bergman to Cox South. Dr. Bergman will be the first fellowship-trained craniofacial surgeon in Springfield, treating cleft lip and palate but also the entire spectrum of pediatric plastic surgical conditions. She will be bringing a new expertise to Springfield that the community has never seen before.

"I am incredibly excited to join the CoxHealth family as we build a comprehensive cleft and craniofacial center in Springfield. Providing multidisciplinary team-based care for children and their families is my passion. I hope that by offering comprehensive services at each stage of life, our families will feel supported and empowered with the care now available here at home," says Dr. Bergman.

Dr. Bergman attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin and went on to complete her integrated plastic surgery residency at The University of Kansas Health System. She comes to us after completing her pediatric plastic and craniofacial surgery fellowship at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Under the mentorship of Dr. Richard Kirschner and his partners, she received exceptional surgical training in cleft lip and palate repair, speech surgery, craniosynostosis and cranial vault remodeling, management of vascular anomalies, and congenital hand and peripheral nerve procedures.

“We are so grateful to have Dr. Bergman join our team. Her knowledge and experience will bring a new and high-quality service to our patients,” says Dr. Robert Shaw, surgeon in CoxHealth Plastic Surgery.

"Dr. Bergman’s expertise will broaden our ability to treat the spectrum of craniofacial and pediatric plastic surgery conditions. Our community will collectively benefit from having her expert care close to home, and we’re excited to have her join CoxHealth,” says Dr. Carl Price, surgeon in CoxHealth Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Bergman will start at Cox South on September 1 and is expected to perform dozens of surgeries in her first year that were historically outsourced to other hospitals.

In her spare time, Dr. Bergman enjoys checking out local restaurants and coffee shops, traveling near and far, and getting outdoors with her husband, Marc, and chocolate lab, Lily.
