CoxHealth Cassville Clinic welcomes Dr. Matthew Caviness

Dr. Matthew Caviness was drawn to join CoxHealth Cassville Clinic as a family medicine physician by the beautiful Table Rock Lake, the charm of Roaring River State Park, and the warm welcome of the community. 

Originally from Independence, MO., Dr. Caviness earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri before attending Saint Louis University Medical School. 

"I became acquainted with the Cassville area six years ago when my dad bought a home in Golden, MO.," says Dr. Caviness. "After completing medical school, I had the choice to practice anywhere, but I chose the Cassville area because of its stunning beauty and the proximity to my family." 

By 12 years old, Dr. Caviness knew he wanted to become a doctor. 

"My career choice never really wavered," says Dr. Caviness. "My mom is a longtime nurse, so I was exposed to the health care field growing up. I want to extend a helping hand and be there for patients who need me." 

Dr. Caviness chose to specialize in family medicine because he had the opportunity to experience rural medicine during medical school and enjoyed taking care of a wide range of patients and conditions. 

"Working in rural medicine allows me to really get to know my patients, and that's something I truly value," says Dr. Caviness. "I look forward to being that friendly neighborhood doctor you bump into at the store and exchange smiles or hellos with." 

In his spare time, Dr. Caviness enjoys spending time with his wife and nine-month-old son.
