It’s a boy! Monett’s first baby of 2019 arrived on Jan. 3 to claim the official title of New Year’s baby. Matt and Paige Farris welcomed baby Mississippi Wade into the world at 4:22 p.m. at Cox Monett.

At birth, the baby clocked in at a healthy 7 pounds and 4 ounces, and measured 21.5 inches long.

Mississippi Wade’s mom said, “This is the second baby I have had at Cox Monett. The nursing staff makes me feel like I’m the most important person in the room—it’s always just a great experience.”

Little Mississippi Wade will be welcomed home by his three-year-old big sister, Emersyn.

Dr. Ronda Azelton, Family Practice and Obstetrics of Monett, delivered the first baby of 2019.

The second-time parents said they will call the baby by his middle name “Wade” to honor a friend. They said Mississippi was chosen as the first name because his father loves John Wayne movies.

Cox Monett presented a gift basket to the Farris family in honor of their new baby. It included plush toys, a rattle, blankets, diapers, onesies, a book, and a congratulatory card from Cox Monett administration.
