Student Medical Mission Trip to Haiti
May 24, 2012 through June 2, 2012
For the last several years students have participated in medical missions to various underdeveloped or poor countries such as Nicaragua, Antigua, Barbuda, and Haiti. Students are immersed in the culture through various means such as clinic work, community work teams and active outreach. The trip begins with meetings of preparation through learning about the culture, what healthcare concerns to expect in the country, learning songs, skits and other means of ministry. The students work under the supervision of a provider to assess, diagnose and treat each client they see in the clinic in a holistic manner. This is an excellent way to take the assessment skills they have learned in an "ideal" environment and use them in a primitive clinic setting. These trips provide the student the opportunity to conduct a spiritual assessment and share their faith.
