Apply for Financial Aid

Application for financial aid is made by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Priority is given to applications processed by April 1.  The application is available online January 1 for the upcoming academic year.  You must complete the following steps to apply.

Step 1:  Request a PIN (Personal Identification Number) at www.pin.ed.gov

High school students, college students, former students and parents who do not already have a PIN may apply for one through the Department of Education's SFA PIN Web site. Parents who are not students can also apply for a PIN.

Your PIN can be used each year to electronically apply for federal student aid and to access your Federal Student Aid records online. If you receive a PIN, you agree not to share it with anyone. Your PIN serves as your electronic signature and provides access to your personal records, so you should never give your PIN to anyone, including commercial services that offer to help you complete your FAFSA. Be sure to keep your PIN in a safe place.

Step 2: Complete the FAFSA - Free Applications for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov

You must file your FAFSA by April 1 to be eligible for certain types of state aid such as the Missouri Access Grant.

Please include the respective school code when filing your FAFSA electronically.

Step 3: Verification (if you are not selected for verification, please skip to step 4)

Q: What is verification?

A: CPS selects a percentage of FAFSAs, some randomly and others based on certain edit criteria, for data verification. Schools must verify certain data reported on these FAFSAs, using documentation provided by the student.

Q: How do I know if I am selected?

A: You will receive notification from the Department of Education and from Cox College with instructions on how to proceed.

Q: What documents are required? (click on link to download)
