Welcome to the Department of Health Sciences 
The Department of Health Sciences was established in 1999 and offers the following programs: the Diagnostic Imaging, Dietetic Internship Program, Medical Assisting, Medical Billing/ Coding Program and Medical Transcription Program. Our Health Sciences Programs are among the finest in providing outstanding academic and clinical instruction. These programs provide an environment and curriculum specifically designed to meet the needs of the medical community.
The Radiography program offers students an Associate of Science degree in Radiography. Students learn to use X-ray and other energies to produce diagnostic images of human structures. Specialty programs allow students to take their degree further in areas of mammography, computer tomography, cardiovascular interventional technology, MRI and Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
The Medical Billing/Coding, and Medical Transcription Program emphasize knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Electronic Health Records and Pharmacology, Human Diseases, and Health Care Delivery through online courses and hand-on Coding and Transcription courses. The programs are designed for the student to meet practical skills required in the Medical Billing/Coding, and/or Transcription Programs.
Medical Assistants are multi-skilled health professional that work in tandem with medical staff in clinics and physician's offices. Medical Assistants will be trained to provide patient care through administrative tasks as well as taking vital signs and preparing patients for examinations.
The post baccalaureate certificate program offered in the Dietetic Internship Program provides supervised practice experiences that meet the American Dietetic Association's requirements and prepares the student to take the Registration Exam for Dietitians. The program's emphasis in nutrition therapy and unique strength in nutrition diagnostics will provide future dietitians with the practice skills to meet the trends and priorities in the dietetics profession.

The programs offer educational experiences designed to meet the demands of the ever changing healthcare environment. Students who complete the programs are employable, having unique skills in their chosen discipline. Learning is enhanced when students are self-directed, goal-oriented and actively involved in the learning process. Learning is a continuous process influenced by many environmental factors. Faculty facilitate the learning process that includes; effective communication, flexible learning environment; goal-directed experiences; emphasis on leadership and professionalism; opportunities for creativity and growth; and shared decision making.
