Because he was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, Dakota had heart problems early on. He had his first open-heart surgery when he was six months old. He later had a pacemaker inserted to keep his heart beating.
Danielle was six months old when she began losing muscle control. After visiting between 20 and 30 doctors over the years, her family found a diagnosis: L-Dopa Responsive Dystonia, which is like a childhood form of Parkinson's.
When Dustin was only two years old, he was diagnosed with diabetes. For the next two years, he dealt with daily, painful injections. In 2005, CMN assisted Dustin's family in buying an insulin pump.
In 2007, Megan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in her kidneys. Despite the cancer and the harsh chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Megan has continued to have a positive attitude, and to do what she loves most: dance.
Isaac's mother Annie experienced complications during pregnancy and gave birth to him at just 23 weeks gestation. He spent four months in the hospital and struggled with lung disease. Now, he enjoys a normal childhood.
