CoxHealth launches emeritus board of directors
For immediate release
April 24, 2013
Sixteen former members of the CoxHealth board of directors have rejoined the organization as a newly launched emeritus board of directors. These business and community leaders will meet four times a year to receive updates and offer valuable input to CoxHealth leadership.
“The best organizations are guided by those with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and who are willing to give of themselves to help others succeed,” said Steve Edwards, CoxHealth president and CEO. “Our emeritus board is composed of community leaders who are dedicated to service and to furthering the mission of CoxHealth.”
Current CoxHealth board of directors chair Jim Hutcheson worked with past board leaders to organize and support the emeritus board, which met for the first time earlier this month. The by-laws of the CoxHealth board of directors allow members to serve only one term past their 70th birthday. The emeritus board was created so that former members of the board of directors could continue to serve as a valuable resource for CoxHealth. Emeritus board members must have served a minimum of ten years on the board of directors, and have contributed to the mission, vision and values of the health system.
The following individuals have agreed to serve on the CoxHealth emeritus board: Dr. Loren Broaddus, Lester B. Cox, Donald Dailey, Donald Duncan, Judge Michael Garrett, Sam Hamra, Donald Jones, Donald Martin, Alvin Meeker, Kenneth Meyer, Chris Nattinger, Robert Roundtree, Ralph Slavens, Rev. Robert Spence, John Squires and William Turner.
