It’s almost time for the state’s largest ladies-only run. The annual Girls Just Wanna Run 5K Run/Walk, presented by Rick’s Automotive, helps raise money for the CoxHealth Fitness Centers Scholarship Fund. This fund helps people with limited incomes and a need to achieve a healthy lifestyle receive CoxHealth Fitness Centers memberships so they can lose weight, build strength, reduce their dependence on medications and more.
Women and girls of all ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate in this race. This year’s event will begin at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, July 21, at Phelps Grove park in Springfield, with race-day registration beginning at 6:30 a.m. For those who preregister, packet pick-up will be 4-7 p.m., Friday, July 20, at The Meyer Center, 3545 S. National. Packet pick-up will include the “Fun Before the Run” expo with great food, free chair massages, product samples and door prizes.
Registration is available at any CoxHealth Fitness Centers location or online at www.coxhealth.com/gjwr. Gift bags and T-shirts will be given to participants who register early.
Entry fees are $20 per person or $45 for a family for pre-registration, $25 per person or $60 for a family on the day of the event. (Restrictions apply on the family rate. Call for details.) For more information, call 269-3282.
