Total Performance Golf Program
A comprehensive approach to game improvement
Total Performance Golf is a sport-specific program designed to enhance your physcial fitness, body mechanics and golf swing to improve your overall golf performance.
It is a multidisciplinary approach involving personal trainers, a PGA teaching professional, physical therapists and athletic trainers to identify any deficits and develop a plan to improve your physical abilities on the course.
Muscle asymmetry, instability, poor posture, imbalance and lack of coordination lead to physical limitations. Its these physical limitations that can cause swing faults and poor golf game performance.
These faults cannot be corrected by golf lessons alone. Physical limitations can be corrected through golf specific workouts that are tailored to your individual physical requirements.You will have a better swing, the ability to last longer on the course, a more powerful drive and mental strength.
Yoga for Golfers
Exercises that will counter the muscle asymmetry inherently due to the golfer’s swing from one side of the body, overtraining and repetitive motion. Exercises target core strength, hip flexibility, lower back, torso rotation, hamstrings and breathing.
Fitness for Golf
Increasing flexibility, strength and stamina is a simple path toward game improvement. A proper exercise and stretching regimen will have you feeling better and let you play longer.
Fitness classes with a golf emphasis are taught by a certified personal trainer in a group setting.
Classes are held once a week for eight weeks. Cost: $25 for CoxHealth Fitness Center members; $65 for non-members
Video Swing Analysis
See your swing frame by frame to diagnose any tendencies that are causing inconsistency in ball flight and centeredness of contact. We will compare your swing to the the swing of a PGA or LPGA tour player of similar body type, demonstrateing the correct way to swing. At the end of the lesson, you will be emailed the video highlighting key points discussed so you can play it from your home computer and practice the techniques and drills that were taught. Seeing is believing, which helps you understand how to improve and get to the next level of your game.

Many swing faults, inconsistencies, injuries and poor scores are a result of the golfer's inability to execute a biomechanically correct golf swing. Total Performance Golf is designed to assess a golfer’s musculoskeletal system as it relates to performing a healthy and effective golf swing.
Total Performance Golf emphasizes posture, strength, mobility and balance as they relate to a healthy golf swing. The program follows a biomechanical approach, focusing on the body - not the club.
Assessment: history, full body video analysis of your golf swing, wellness physical examination, review of findings as they relate to your swing and home program instruction.
Follow-up visits: one-on-one strengthening, conditioning, balance training, stretching and exercises emphasizing correction of identified dysfunction through a full body wellness approach.
Reassessment: re-examination of dysfunction areas including a repeat video analysis of your golf swing and wellness physical examination.
|Option 1 (1 visit): assessment, video analysis of golf swing, review of results and development of a home exercise program
|Option 2 (3 visits): assessment and two follow-up visits
|Option 3 (5 visits): assessment, three follow-up visits and a reassessment
The biomechanical/musculoskeletal wellness assessment and follow-up visits are performed by a physcial therapist or certified athletic trainer. Visits are 55-60 minutes.
