Patients with heart valve disease often need to be seen by a number of health professionals to determine the correct course of treatment and be educated about their condition.
But thanks to CoxHealth's new Heart Valve Clinic, held on Fridays inside Wheeler Heart and Vascular Center, these patients can now see their caregivers and have appointments scheduled for most necessary diagnostic tests in a more efficient, streamlined way.
"We've always taken great care of our heart valve patients. But this new approach allows us to care for them in a more patient-centered way," said Dr. James Ceaser, cardiologist.
Thanks to the multi-disciplinary team of nurse educators, cardiologists and thoracic surgeons at the clinic, patients quickly receive an accurate diagnosis and the physicians are able to determine the best treatment.
"Having all our experts working together at the clinic really lets us quickly grasp the whole picture of the patient's condition, and make the best decisions for that patient's care," said Ceaser.
Patients must be referred to the clinic by their physician. For more information, call 269-6479.
