Race training helps kids prepare for annual CoxHealth Medical Mile race

Runners ages 3 to 12 are invited to attend a six-week training program to learn the skills of running and build up endurance to run the CoxHealth Medical Mile.
Training sessions will be held 6-7 p.m., Wednesdays beginning April 27, at the Burrell Park Lake running path, just east of the Hulston Cancer Center, 3850 S. National, as weather permits.
Topics will include proper training techniques, proper clothing and shoes, proper nutrition, runner/race safety, stretching, strengthening, overall conditioning, timed runs and drills. Advance registration is requested, and one parent is required to stay for the entire training session each week. Kids' race training is free with a paid Medical Mile registration, or $10 without a race registration. For more information or to register, call 269-3282.
The 2011 CoxHealth Medical Mile will be held Saturday, June 4. Race proceeds benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals of CoxHealth. More information is available here.
